Win a Scholarship worth up to the total cost of your cruise!

Scholarship awards are made to pupils on the basis of entries as described below.

Choose the destination on your cruise that interests you the most and write, according to the details below, about any aspect of that country, for example its peoples, history and traditions, its importance in the world and its contacts with other countries, its culture and religious background, its landscape and relationship with physical features (such as the sea, or any rivers, mountains, volcanoes etc).

KEY STAGE TWO – [up to age 11]

Write a story based on your chosen country. (Your entry should be approximately 800 – 1000 words long.)

KEY STAGE THREE – [age 11 – 14]

Write an essay on, or an imaginative response to, your chosen country. (Your entry should be approximately 1,200 words long and should give a bibliography and/or list of resources.)

KEY STAGE FOUR – [over 14]

Write an essay on, or an imaginative response to, your chosen country. (Your entry should be approximately 1,300 – 1,500 words long and should give a bibliography and/or list of resources.)

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Illustrations are welcome, especially when they are original.
  2. The internet will certainly assist research, but original ideas will also be valuable.
  3. Your entry must be accompanied by your date of birth and a 10 line note explaining ‘Why I would like to sail on a Voyage of Discovery’.
  4. A note from a parent or guardian must be included confirming that the entrant has had no significant help in preparing the entry, although some advice on how to tackle the subject is allowed.
