Risk AssessmentThe first hurdle will be to sell the idea to your Head and the Off-site Visits Co-ordinator in your school! Voyages of Discovery produce a comprehensive professional risk assessment for the trip, and also send out the rules and etiquette for being on board and for off ship visits. When going ashore there is always a local tour guide and usually a Voyages of Discovery member of staff. In ‘higher risk’ areas coaches may travel in convoy (e.g. in Egypt) and a security guard also travels on the coach. On board there is a medical centre with an English GP and usually two nurses. A copy of the risk assessment may be obtained from Voyages of Discovery. |
